In order to maintain the existing
skyline it was decided to come up
with a low building which would
rise up to the level of the terrace
on the U-shaped building. The
museum building rises in steps
from the subway station like a
Mayan or Aztec temple, creating a
terrace which forms a plaza at the
upper level which is integrated
with the terrace of the U-shaped
building. The museum activities
are housed in the lower portion
of the building while the upper
terrace level has shopping
facilities such as florists,
restaurants, book shops etc.
